Seeking the Help of the Sacred Heart: Will He Respond?

The link below is to an article published this morning on the website of the Catholic World Report. The original title was “Seeking the Help of the Sacred Heart: Will He Respond?”, but the editors at CWR changed it to read as it appears, along with a photo of Bishop Knestout.

It is not meant to be a personal attack on anyone, but rather a cri de coeur from someone very close to the pain of hundreds of priests.

I’m aware that the outcome in Orlando could have been much worse, as many voices were demanding a drastic expansion of the “Charter” to include such things as “vulnerable people” and “spiritual abuse.” Clearly there are problems in the Church, but we solve nothing if we don’t adhere to fundamental principles of justice. As I state in the article, when a bishop believes he can get away with “well Rome doesn’t pay the bills” there is something fundamentally wrong with the system.

Please join me in praying for a return to the rule of law so that the Gospel may be preached in its fullness, that the sacraments be celebrated by worthy (if imperfect) ministers, and that the many works of charity being performed by those in the Church may continue to thrive.
